Astronaut in Space

110 billion people have ever lived on Earth. Less than 600 amongst them have seen the Earth from space. This experience has changed forever their vision of the planet. They saw a world without borders, a fragile oasis floating in the vastness of space. These astronauts became ambassadors of planet Earth.

The Erasmus+ Space Consortium project aims at transferring this feeling to thousands of children across Europe.

Thanks to an immersive experience in virtual reality inside a real spaceship and an educational programme composed of 12 lessons, children become astronauts and share the unique perspective only offered to those who travel higher than the atmosphere: watch the Earth from Space.

SPACE Consortium goes further, by developing a spirit of ambassadors of planet Earth in the hearts of the young participants. The experience should not only sensibilise children to environment protection but also develop their sense of global citizenship, giving them clues in becoming responsible for positive change in the future.

The project addresses particularly children between the ages of 10 to 12.

Four European partners involved
Coordinated by the Space Buzz foundation in the Netherlands, the project SPACE Consortium involves four partners in four European countries. Aside from the Space Buzz Foundation, La Casemate, a french science centre, Vizuális Torony (Hungary) and the Schulsprengel Bruneck 1 school in Italy work in order to develop the educational programme that hundreds of children will have the opportunity to test in each four countries.

Launched in November 2020, the project is currently developing its resources.

SPACE Consortium on tour
From autumn 2021 to autumn 2022, the programmes will be deployed alternately in each four countries, with a key event: the arrival of the Space Buzz spaceship! Coming soon to a school near you.
